The Kuyper College Men's Soccer program went on the road today for a match at Concordia University Chicago. Kuyper lost by a final score of 3-1. This match was the second match of the year for the Cougars, and they move to 0-2-0 on the year after this afternoon's loss.Â
The match was fairly back and forth for a good portion of the first half. However, Concordia took the lead in the 27th minute, and they never looked back. Concordia scored two goals in just a couple minutes of match time, and Kuyper was never able to recover. Concordia scored their third goal of the match in the 69th minute to give them a 3-0 lead. However, Kuyper was able to get on the board in the 74th minute when
Johnson Bondo found the back of the net off of an assist from
Eduardo Terrazas. This goal is a significant goal for Kuyper, as not only is it the first goal of the Cougars' 2024 season, but it is the first goal in Kuyper College history since 2014, when Kuyper discontinued their athletics program.Â
Kuyper is now 0-2 on the year, but they return to action this weekend, where they will host Goshen College. The match will begin at 6:00pm, and it will be hosted by Northview High School in Grand Rapids.Â
