The Kuyper College Men's Soccer program traveled to Dubuque, Iowa this past weekend to take on fellow NCCAA Midwest Region member, Emmaus Bible College. This match took place on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars were coming off their first win of the year, where they defeated Maranatha Baptist University 1-0. However, the Cougars were unable to continue those winning ways, as Emmaus Bible came out and defeated Kuyper 3-0 on Saturday.Â
Kuyper surrendered an early goal to the Eagles, and they were never able to narrow that deficit. Emmaus scored two late goals in the second half to extend their lead to a comfortable 3-0 finish. The Cougars were able to get twice as many shots on goal as the Eagles, but they were unable to convert on any of those attempts. Kuyper finished with 8 shots on goal, while Emmaus only had 4 shots on goal, converting 3 of those. Emmaus goalie, Tucker Kapas, had 5 big saves on Kuyper's shots on goal, leading to a shutout for Emmaus.Â
Kuyper moves to 1-5-1 on the year with the loss. They have two matches this week, both on the road. Kuyper will travel to Alma, MI to take on Alma College on Friday, and then they will turnaround and take on Calvin University on Saturday.Â
