Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Kuyper Drops Home Match vs. Grace Christian

The Kuyper College Volleyball team lost on Tuesday night to Grace Christian University by a score of 3 sets to 0. Kuyper hosted Grace tonight, which marks the first time that Kuyper and Grace have competed against eachother since 2015, when Kuyper closed the athletic department. Kuyper and Grace once represented an exciting rivalry between to NCCAA institutions from Grand Rapids. The exciting rivalry will have many more matchups in the future, as Kuyper and Grace will play eachother multiple times in volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball.

Boonstra Gymnasium was loud and filled with energy for the match. Despite the home court advantage, Kuyper was unable to counter some of Grace's runs. Kuyper lost the first two sets by a score of 25-18, and the Cougars lost the final set by a score of 25-11. The Cougars were led by Freshman Jada Munro, who had 8 kills. Sophomore Angelita Ledesma added 15 assists to the Cougars' effort. Addisyn Headworth and Kelsey Quiggin led the Cougars on the defensive end, as Headworth led the Cougars with 2 solo blocks. Quiggin led the Cougars with 12 digs.

The Cougars will get a shot at a rematch vs. Grace Christian University on October 23rd, where the Cougars will travel to Grace. Kuyper's also hits the road this weekend for two matches: one on Friday at La Roche University (NCAA D3) and one on Saturday at Appalachian Bible College (NCCAA D2).

Despite the loss, tonight was a successful night for the Cougars, as it was their Breast Cancer Awareness game. Both teams wore pink ribbons, and the Cougars wore pink uniforms. It was a great night to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, while also honoring those who have been affected by the disease.

The Cougars are now 3-10 on the season and 3-2 in the NCCAA.
