The Kuyper College Women's Basketball team lost to Blackburn College today by a score of 59-70. The game was a back and forth game for much of the afternoon, but the Cougars were outscored 9-19 in the fourth quarter, leading to the loss.Â
Kuyper was able to take a 7 point lead into the half, but Blackburn's defense stifled the Cougars in the second half, as they only scored 21 second half points. A major factor in Kuyper's offensive struggles was their inability to make the 3 today. They finished 2-23 from 3 (8.7%). They played a relatively clean game, as the Cougars only had 14 turnovers on the afternoon.Â
Kuyper was led in scoring by
Jakya Rimpson, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds. This was Rimpson's first double-double of the season.
Aniya Fisher and
Couper Agema each had double-doubles as well, as Fisher finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Agema finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. This was Agema's first double-double of the season.
Abigail Rivera-Sosa provided a great spark off the bench for the cougars with 8 points and 5 rebounds, including some key rebounds and baskets down the stretch of the game.Â
With the loss, Kuyper moves to 2-4 on the season. They return to action on Wednesday, November 15th at Spring Arbor University for an exhibition game.
