The Kuyper College Women's Basketball team traveled to Detroit on Wednesday afternoon to play at Little Caesars Arena. Little Caesars Arena is the 20,000+ capacity arena that is home to the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Redwings.
Kuyper took on Grand Rapids Community College in an exhibition game. The Raiders defeated the Cougars by a score of 40-48. The game was a competitive, high-intensity game, as both teams were able to put together some runs.
Kuyper went into the first quarter break with a 10-8 lead. However, the Raiders won the second quarter by 17 points, making it a 15 point deficit for the Cougars at the half. Kuyper won the next two quarters, but they were unable to cut the lead enough to win the game.
The Cougars were led in scoring by junior
Jakya Rimpson. Rimpson had 12 points and 7 rebounds for the Cougars.
Aniya Fisher neared another double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.
Kuyper's record stays the same at 4-5 on the season. This weekend is an important weekend for the Cougars, as they have two NCCAA II games, including a road game at Midwest Region opponent, Emmaus Bible College. Kuyper takes on Faith Baptist Bible College, who they previously beat 61-45, on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, they take on Emmaus Bible College.
