Ian Klenk Becomes First Signee for the Return of Men's Soccer

Saturday was a historic day on the campus of Kuyper College, as Ian Klenk signed his official Letter of Intent to play soccer at Kuyper College next fall. Kuyper College once had a Men's Soccer program, but that program was ended with all of the other athletic programs back in 2014-2015. However, soccer will be back at Kuyper very soon, as the Cougars will be competing in the NCCAA II in the fall of 2024.

During halftime of the Men's Basketball game on Saturday, Ian Klenk signed on to become a Cougar.

Klenk is a 5'8 goalkeeper from Cedar Springs High School. He will be graduating from Cedar this spring. Klenk played club soccer for SCOR.

Ian helped lead Cedar Springs to an impressive 15-6-1 record this season. Cedar Springs was able to shut out their opponent 8 times this past season. The Red Hawks had a deep postseason run, where they eventually lost to Grand Rapids Christian by a narrow score of 2-1. Grand Rapids Christian went on to win the State Championship.

Coach Mike Colago is very excited about Ian and the addition to his program. Coach Mike Colago said, "Besides becoming highly talented and recommended, I discovered Ian when my high school team faces Cedar Srings a few seasons back. He is very athletic and is a complete gamer! Really excited about him as we start with a defensive foundation for the Men's team! Big thanks to Ian and his family for joining us here at Kuyper!"
