The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team defeated Moody Bible Institute on Saturday, by a score of 73-49. The Archers from Moody Bible are also in the NCCAA Midwest Region, like the Cougars. This win represents the first win over a regional opponent for the Cougars this season, as they are now 1-0 in those games.Â
Kuyper had a very balanced effort today, as all 18 Cougars were able to get in the scoring column. All of the Cougars got atleast 8 minutes of playing time, and no Cougar logged more than 15 minutes on the afternoon. Kuyper was able to run out to a big lead early in the game, and they never looked back. Once the Cougars' lead reached 20 points, the lead never got under that the rest of the way. Kuyper's defense was stifling this afternoon, as the held the Archers to 25.4% from the field and 8.0% from three.Â
The Cougars were led in scoring by
Jeremiah Jolliffi, who added 9 points.
Damion Cochran had 7.
Austin Stone led the Cougars with 6 rebounds.
Herman Brown and
Elisha Searcy led the Cougars with 4 assists.
Nic Yorke was able to get his first bucket as a Kuyper Cougar this afternoon as well.Â
Overall, it was a very balanced, team effort from Kuyper today. The Cougars move to 8-3 on the season and 6-1 in the NCCAA II. They have a huge NCCAA II matchup on Tuesday, December 12th, where Welch College will head to Grand Rapids to take on the Cougars.Â
