The Kuyper College Volleyball team was back at home tonight, where they suffered a hard-fought loss to Montcalm Community College. The final score was 0-3.Â
After dropping the first set by a score of 19-25, Kuyper led a good portion of the second set. However, the Cougars lost momentum towards the end of the set and ultimately lost by a score of 23-25 in the second set.
Despite the loss, the Cougars had some impressive performances on the stat sheet.
Kelsey Quiggin led the Cougars with 7 kills, and
Jada Munro chipped in 5 kills to the effort.
Angelita Ledesma led the Cougars in assists once again, as she had 10 assists on the night. The Cougars had 6 service aces tonight, with
Jada Munro providing 5 of those.Â
On the defensive end, Bailey Lewis led the Cougars with an impressive 17 digs.
Kelsey Quiggin and
Jada Munro added 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Boonstra Gymnasium and Fitness Center was home to a great crowd and environment tonight. This match was the first home match where students have been on-campus, so the energy in the building was very exciting.Â
With the loss, the Cougars move to 3-8 on the season, and they remain 3-1 against NCCAA teams. The Cougars will hit the road to take on Montcalm Community College a week from now, on September 20th. The match is set to begin at 6:30pm.Â
