The Kuyper College Developmental - Purple team lost a close game at home on Monday night to the Knights of Calvin University. This matchup featured two teams from the east side of Grand Rapids. The Cougars lost 79-87.Â
Kuyper got a scorching hot first half from
Rylee Carter, who finished with 20 points in the first half. Carter went on to finish the game with 25 points. The Cougars were down 2 at half to the Knights, despite the hot shooting for Kuyper. They were unable to slow down the guard play of the Knights throughout the evening. With about 5 mins to go, the Cougars were down 2 points. However, Kuyper could not get the necessary stops on the defensive end to close the game, resulting in a tough loss for the Cougars.Â
Terrance Murphy added 21 points and 6 rebounds for the Cougars on an efficient 9/14 shooting. Corey Prithcett added 16 points and 3 assists, including a big three pointer late in the game to keep the Cougars in reach.
JT Foster finished with 11 points and three made threes.Â
Kuyper Developmental - Purple is now 5-11 on the season. They return to action on Tuesday, January 23rd with a game against Aquinas College at 7:00pm. The game is a home game for the Cougars.Â
