The Kyuper College Women's Basketball team lost a close road matchup on Monday night to Carlow University. Carlow University competes in the NCAA Division III. The Cougars lost to the Celtics 61-71.Â
Kuyper jumped out to a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter, but went into the halftime break down 5. Unfortunately for the Cougars, they were unable to get going enough on the offensive end to secure the win. The Cougars' defense was effective for much of the evening, as they limited the Celtics to 31.1% from the field and 19.2% from three. Turnovers proved to be a big difference in the matchup, as Kuyper finished with 21 turnovers to Carlow's 9 turnovers.Â
Kuyper was led by
Aniya Fisher, who finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Fisher shot 7-14 from the field.
Shonyah Hawkins added 16 points to the Cougars' effort.
Jakya Rimpson finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots.Â
Kuyper moves to 11-7 on the season, and they remain 8-2 in the NCCAA II. Kuyper is back on the road this weekend, as they travel to Tennessee and Kentucky to take on Welch College and Campbellsville-Harrodsburg. Both of these opponents are NCCAA II matchups.Â
