The Kuyper College Women's Basketball team traveled down to Kansas to take on Kansas Christian College on Wednesday. This game was the first game of 2024 for the Cougars. Kuyper defeated Kansas Christian on the road by a score of 65-40.Â
A dominant third quarter led to the Cougars' runaway win. The Cougars beat Kansas Christian 19-4 in the third quarter to take full control of the game.Â
The Cougars were led by freshman
Aniya Fisher on the evening. Fisher led the Cougars with 15 points, and she added 7 rebounds.
Jakya Rimpson neared a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Shonyah Hawkins, who joined the Cougars for the second half of the season, provided an offensive spark for the Cougars, as she finished with 12 points.
Couper Agema also finished with 12 points.Â
Coach Mike Janikowski was pleased to get back to it with a win on the road this evening. When asked about the game, Coach Mike Janikowski said, "We haven't played in awhile, so for us to get a win on the road, it is always a good thing. We are finding ways to play as a team more and more, but we are just waiting for it to fully click. I'm extremely proud of how we were able to push the lead and work on some things down the stretch. We will continue to play hard and grow."Â
The Cougars move to 7-5 on the season with the win and 5-1 in the NCCAA II. Kuyper returns to action on Thursday, January 4th, where they travel to Kansas City, Missouri to take on Calvary Bible at 6:00pm EST.Â
