The Kuyper College Volleyball team hosted Aquinas College on Friday afternoon. The Cougars lost to the Saints earlier this season in three sets. Today's result was the same, as Kuyper lost 3-0 to Aquinas. The Saints are a very high-level opponent, as they are currently ranked in the top 15 for the NAIA National Rankings. The Saints entered today's matchup with an impressive 27-1 record.Â
Kuyper was able to reach double figures in each of the final two sets of the match, which showed improvement from the beginning of the match. Kuyper competed hard and was able to force Aquians into some long rallies in order to earn their points. However, Aquinas' ability to attack at a high-level and cover the entire floor when receiving attacks was too much for the Cougars to overcome.
Trina Nelson led Kuyper with 5 kills on the day, which is a new career-high for Nelson.
Addisyn Headworth added 3 kills for Kuyper.
Angelita Ledesma finished the day with 9 assists and 8 digs.
Trina Nelson led Kuyper in digs as well, as she finished with 9 on the day.Â
Kuyper moves to 0-23 on the year with the loss. Kuyper returns to action on October 24th, where they will host Andrews University. The Cougars played the Cardinals back in late September and lost 3-0. Kuyper will look to change that result next week in the rematch. The match will begin at 7:30pm.Â
