The Kuyper College Men's Soccer program defeated Ohio Christian University on Thursday afternoon by a score of 6-3. This was a big win for the Cougars after coming off a 2-0 loss to Grand Rapids Community College earlier in the week.Â
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead in this one, and they never looked back. The Cougars took the lead off of a header from
Isaac Neekpo in the 27th minute. That goal was the first of Neekpo's three goals and also the first goal of his career. Additionally, Neekpo's hat-trick was the first Kuyper hat-trick in the return of the Men's Soccer program.Â
In the 41st and 42nd minute, Kuyper scored 2 more goals to extend their lead to 3-0.
Blessing Tarpeh converted on a penalty kick, and then
Malenga Musa scored his first career goal shortly after. Kuyper went into the halftime break with a 3-0 lead.
Isaac Neekpo scored two more goals in the second half, and then
Christian Bartee scored late to bring the Cougars to a season-high 6 goals in a match. Eduardo Terazzas finished the day with 2 assists.
Malvern Syaluse and
Christian Bartee each added an assist as well.
Kuyper moves to 3-8-1 on the year with the road win. The Cougars will travel to Maranatha Baptist University on Saturday for a rematch with the Sabercats. Kuyper defeated Maranatha Baptist earlier in the year by a score of 1-0. The match will begin at 3:00pm ET.Â
