The Kuyper College Men's Soccer team defeated Maranatha Baptist University on Saturday this past weekend. The final score was 4-3. The Cougars defeated the Sabercats back in September by a score of 1-0. This was another big win for Kuyper, as Maranatha Baptist is a fellow member of the Midwest Region. The Cougars are currently on a two match win streak, and they will look to extend that to three match win streak against Jackson College today.Â
The Cougars got on the board early in this game, behind a
Isaac Neekpo goal in the second minute of the match.
Ryan Mitchell assisted Neekpo on the goal. Neekpo found the back of the net again in the 9th minute of the match, making it his 5th goal of the week. Neekpo earned NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honors for his impressive play this past week. Maranatha Baptist responded with two goals of their own to tie the match at 2-2. Eduardo Terazzas helped Kuyper regain the lead when he scored off a corner from
Hugo Freitas dos Santos in the second half. However, the Sabercats did not back down, as they tied the match at 3-3 in the 65th minute. Eduardo Terazzas scored again in the 71st minute off of a
Christian Bartee assist to give the Cougars the lead, and they were able to hold on to secure the win.Â
Kuyper moved to 4-8-1 on the season with the win. They will take on Jackson College on October 29th at 2:00pm. The match will be played at MSA Fieldhouse.Â
