The Kuyper College JV - Purple team defeated the Kuyper College JV - Black team on Wednesday night by a score of 83-76. JV - Purple and JV - Black played earlier this season, and JV - Black won comfortably 96-75. This was a nice win for the JV - Purple team to even the series 1-1. This will be the last matchup between these two teams, unless they were to meet in the Cougar Classic JV Tournament later this season.Â
JV - Black jumped out to a 39-24 halftime lead in this one, but JV - Purple continued to compete. JV - Purple was sensational on offense in the second half, scoring 59 2nd half points. They out-rebounded JV - Black by a total of 10 (43-33).Â
JV - Purple was led by sophomore
Terrance Murphy, who logged the first triple-double in Kuyper College JV Basketball history. He finished with an impressive 11 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists for JV - Purple.
Ryan Patterson finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, logging another double-double.
Ashtyn Simerson and
Antwann Woods each logged double-doubles as well. Simerson added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and he shot 50% from three on the game. Woods finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Joey Taylor added 13 points as well.Â
JV - Black was led by
Kevin Strait and
Dylan Walsh, who each scored 15 points.
LJ McCullough added 13 points and 9 rebounds, nearing a double-double.
Omari Peak finished with 11 points.Â
JV - Purple moves to 2-7 on the year, and they will take on Kennedy Collegiate Institute Prep on Saturday at 12:00pm. JV - Black moves to 3-6 on the year, and they will take on Kennedy Collegiate Institute Prep on Friday at 2:00pm.Â
Each of these teams will take on JV - Gold twice this season as well to round out the Kuyper vs. Kuyper match-ups.Â
