The Kuyper College Women's Basketball team dropped their rematch game at Great Lakes Christian College on Tuesday by a score of 56-66. Kuyper and Great Lakes, both NCCAA II Midwest Regional Members, played at Kuyper back on January 17th. Great Lakes defeated the Cougars 68-71. On Tuesday night, Kuyper got out to a small, but early, lead. However, the Crusaders of Great Lakes Christian College ended the half up 11. Kuyper was unable to regain the lead, and they lost 56-66.Â
The Cougars were unable to get going offensively throughout the evening, making it difficult to narrow the lead. Kuyper shot an inefficient 29.6% from the field and 54.5% from the free throw line. However, hot shooting from
Maria Sobany propelled the Cougars to an efficient 38.1% from three. Defensively, the Cougars were able to limit the Crusaders to 40.0% from the field and 14.3% from three, but it was not enough.Â
Maria Sobany led the Cougars with a career-high 25Â points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. She made 5-10 threes.
Aniya Fisher added 14Â points and 5 rebounds.Â
The Cougars move to 13-9 on the year and 10-4 in the NCCAA II. The Cougars return to action on Saturday against Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI.Â
