The Kuyper College Men's Basketball season has come to an end this evening, as they were defeated 60-75 by the Tigers of Grace Christian University. The Cougars and Tigers split in their two regular season match-ups, and the Tigers won the grudge match on Friday evening.Â
The Cougars struggled to get going offensively for much of the night, and that proved to be the difference. The Cougars shot just over 35% from the field and 21.7% from three. They also only shot 60.7% from the free throw line. The Cougars held up defensively, but they could not get going enough offensively in order to win the game. They were able to claw back into the game at the halftime break, as they were only down 3 at half, but Grace Christian controlled much of the second half.Â
Regional Player of the Year,
Danyel Bibbs, led the Cougars with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Herman Brown added 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Elisha Searcy and
Austin Stone each had 9 points.
This was the first year back for Kuyper College Athletics, after a multi-year gap since 2015. The Men's Basketball program had a great year to get the program going again. They finished the year with a 20-9 record. 20 wins tied the previous school record.Â
The Men's Basketball program will take some time off before getting back to open gyms and workouts for the program. Stay tuned for a season recap article.Â
