The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team hosted Maranatha Baptist University on Saturday afternoon for a NCCAA II Midwest Regional match-up. The Cougars defeated the Sabercats by a socre of 102-70.Â
Kuyper's offense was the story in this one, as all 13 Cougars scored. 102 points also sets a new season-high for total points in a game for Kuyper. The Cougars shot a blistering 50.7% from the field and 45.2% from three.Â
Maranatha Baptist shot the ball well in this one as well, as they shot 9/21 (42.9%) from three. The Cougars led 51-41 at half, but a huge second half for Kuyper led to the 32 point win.Â
Herman Brown led the way for the Cougars with a nice double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He shot 5/7 from three. Freshman
Jalen Cook scored a career-high 16 points, 2 of which came from a thunderous transition dunk.
Elijah Searcy added 12 points on 5/5 shooting from the field.
Nic Yorke got his first career start today, and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with his 7 points.
Sam Dillard also notched double-digits with 10 points.
Antwann Woods scored his first career bucket in this one as well.Â
Kuyper improves to 7-9 on the season with the win. They also improve to 4-2 in the NCCAA II. Kuyper's next games will take place in the sunny U.S. Virgin Islands, where the Cougars will take on the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands next week. The Cougars fly out on Wednesday, and they will play games on Thursday and Saturday.Â
