The Kuyper College Volleyball program hosted rival Grace Christian University on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Cougars in three sets to close out Kuyper's regular season. Now, Kuyper turns to postseason play, which will begin Friday, November 7th.Â
The Cougars and the Tigers played earlier this season, on October 4th, where Grace Christian won in three sets. On Saturday, Grace Christian controlled the opening set from start to finish, where they won the set 25-12. The second and third sets were more competitive than the first, but the Cougars were unable to close out sets with wins.Â
Aliyah Garner led the Cougars with 17 kills and 10 digs.
Rachel Romero added 8 kills and 6 digs.
Brooke Moore led the Cougars in digs with 13 on the day.
Trina Nelson led with 13 assists.
The Cougars finish the regular season 5-20 overall and 3-5 in the NCCAA II. The Cougars now have the NCCAA II Midwest Regional Tournament coming up. Regionals begin this Friday, November 7th, where the #5 seed Kuyper Cougars will take on the #4 seed Great Lakes Christian Crusaders in the quarterfinals. The Cougars and Crusaders split their two match-ups this season, where each match went five sets. The winner of this match will take on #1 seed Emmaus University. The winner of the Regional Tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCCAA II National Tournament in Joplin, Missouri.Â
The Cougars will play at 11:00am on Friday. If they win, they advance to the semifinals at 4:00pm ET. The Regional Championship will take begin at noon on Saturday, November 8th.Â
