Men's Basketball Drops Season Finale to Miami Hamilton

The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team hosted Miami University Hamilton on Friday evening in the Cougars' regular season finale of the 2024-2025 campaign. The Cougars lost to the Harriers by a score 68-49. Kuyper beat Miami Hamilton earlier in the season, by a score of 68-63. Miami Hamilton is having a terrific season, as they are nationally ranked in the USCAA.

Before the game, the Cougars had the privilege of honoring their two seniors for Senior Night. The Cougars celebrated #4 Richard Major and #10 Herman Brown. Each of the players were recognized before the game, accompinied by friends and family. They were also given commermorative basketballs for their time at Kuyper. Major and Brown have been instrumental in building the foundation of the Kuyper College Men's Basketball program.

The game started slow for the Cougars, as the Harriers raced out to a 20-4 lead. The Harriers' defense was giving Kuyper trouble, leading to fastbreak opportunities for Miami Hamilton. All of Kuyper's shooting numbers were bad in this one, as they shot 39% from the field, 31% from three and 25% from the line.

Sam Dillard led Kuyper in scoring with 18 points and 4 made threes. Herman Brown added 14 points. Travis Jones was active on the glass, grabbing a team-high 7 rebounds to go along with his 7 points. Latrell Jennings blocked 5 shots on the day, a new career-high.

With the loss, Kuyper finishes the regular season 12-14. They will now look to extend their season by making some magic happen in the NCCAA II Midwest Regional Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, MI. Tournament action will begin on Thursday, February 27th.
