The Kuyper College Volleyball earned their first win of the season on Friday evening, as they defeated Moody Bible in four sets. The Cougars were on the road for this match, as they played on the campus of Moody Bible in Chicago, Illinois. This was a big win for the Cougars, as it got them in the win column, but it also makes them 1-0 in their NCCAA II Midwest Regional matchups. These matches affect seeding for the NCCAA II Midwest Regional Tournament in early November.Â
Kuyper won the first two sets in narrow fashion, as both sets ended 25-22 Cougars. In the third set, the Cougars neared a clean sweep, but Moody was able to win the set 25-23. Kuyper went on to win the fourth set 25-20.Â
Aliyah Garner led the Cougars with 21 kills. Her 21 kills was good for a new Kuyper school record for kills in a match. The previous record was held by Garner, who finished with 17 kills earlier this season. Garner also had 14 digs on the night.
Rachel Romero added 10 kills, 4 aces, and 17 digs for Kuyper.
Brooke Moore led the Cougars with 24 digs.
Catherine Cone led with 15 assists, while
Trina Nelson added 14 assists.Â
The Cougars moved to 1-5 on the year with the win and 1-0 in the NCCAA II Midwest Region.Â
