The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team defeated Boyce College on Tuesday evening by a score of 67-61. This was the second game in two days for the Cougars, as they defeated Welch College on Monday evening.Â
Boyce is a member of the NCCAA II Mideast Region, so this was a big cross-region contest for both teams. Boyce is currently receiving votes for the NCCAA II Top 10, so this was a big win for Kuyper.Â
Kuyper and Boyce played a competitive game throughout, with neither team building an insurmountable lead. Kuyper lead at the half 34-29. However, Boyce came out of the gates hot to start the second half, and gained control of the game. For much of the second half, Boyce led. However, Kuyper found a way to down the stretch to string together defensive stops and win the game.Â
Latrell Jennings led Kuyper with 16 points. He made 3 threes and was a perfect 5/5 from the free throw line.
Nick Moore added 12 points and 6 rebounds, while
Austin Stone neared another double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Nic Yorke finished with 8 points for Kuyper.
Kuyper improves to 7-9 on the season with the win and 5-3 in the NCCAA II. The Cougars host rival Grace Christian University on Wednesday, January 14th, at 7:00pm.
