Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Wins Road Trip Opener

The Kuyper College Men's Basketball won their opening game of their weekend roadtrip on Friday. The Cougars defeated Central Christian College of the Bible (NCCAA II) by a score of 91-82. This game was part of the two day invitational, the Faith Classic in Ankeny, Iowa.

The game was a high-scoring, close game. The Cougars went into the half-time break with a 2 point lead. Kuyper's ability to turn Central Christian over was a huge factor in the game. Additionally, the Cougars were humming on offense on Friday evening, as they shot over 51% from the field.

Kuyper's offensive charge was led by freshman Elisha Searcy, who had a career-high 20 points. Herman Brown continued his hot shooting from behind the arc, as he poured in 19 points on 4-6 shooting from 3. Jeremiah Jolliffi added 14 points, and Damion Cochran added 10. Herman Brown notched another double-double for the Cougars, as he grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with his 19 points. Guards Danyel Bibbs and Elijah Searcy each had 5 assists to propel the Cougars' offense.

Coach Bailey was very pleased with his team's offensive output on Friday evening. On tonight's game, Coach Bailey said "Tonight was probably the most complete game that we have played so far. I loved the ball movement and patience, but our defense was also really good, even though we gave up more points than we wanted to. Their team could really shoot it. Coach DeFraites does a great job with his guys. We are happy with this win."

Kuyper moves back above .500 on the season with the win over Central Christian, as they are now 3-2 on the season (2-1 NCCAA II). Kuyper returns to action at 5:00pm ET vs. Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday.
