Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cougars Lose First Road Game of Season at Cornerstone

The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team lost their first road game of the season on Saturday at Cornerstone University. The final score was 64-106.

Kuyper was unable to get things going on the offensive end, especially in the first half of the game. Additionally, Cornerstone's high-powered offense proved to be tough to stop for the Cougars, as the Golden Eagles shot 54.5% from the field.

Herman Brown was able to get hot from the three point line once again, as he made 6 three-pointers on the afternoon. Brown shot an extremely impressive 11/16 (68.8%) from three-point land on the weekend. Brown led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points and 5 rebounds. The rest of the Cougars' scoring was pretty balanced, as 15 of the Kuyper players scored a point on the game.

When asked about the games this weekend, Head Coach Gary Bailey said "It was a really good weekend for Kuyper basketball. Getting the first win on Friday night and being able to share that with the staff and fans in attendance was rewarding. During the game against Boyce College, the fans got to see what an athletic, high-flying team this is. I think that we can be scary by the the time the tournament comes around."

Coach Gary Bailey added that the Cornerstone game was a good test for his group. "The game today at Cornerstone was good for us in the fact that we got to see how we played with some adverstiy. The guys realize that we are a long way from being a championship-caliber team. It will be good to get back to work on Monday."

Saturday's loss moves the Cougars to 1-1 on the season (1-0 NCCAA II). They return to action on Tuesday night, where Kuyper will host USCAA opponent, Andrews University, at 7:30pm.
