The Kuyper College Women's Basketball program is back in the winning column, after not having athletics since the 2014-2015 season. The Cougars started the season off 0-3, but they have continued to get better. Today, they were able to get a mark in the win column, as the Cougars defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph by a score of 55-49.Â
This win marks the first win of Head Coach Mike Janikowski's coaching tenure at Kuyper College.
The Cougars held the lead for a majority of the game. Kuyper did not shoot the ball at an extremely efficient level, but they were able to continue to put pressure on the rim and get to the free throw line. The Cougars finished the game with 21 made free throws, which was a huge factor to helping the Cougars close out the game.Â
Kuyper was led in scoring by junior
Couper Agema, who had a 19 points and 8 rebounds on the afternoon.
Aniya Fisher added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the Cougars. On the inside,
Jakya Rimpson and
Addisyn Headworth were huge on the offensive glass.Â
This win moves the Cougars to 1-3 on the season. Kuyper will take on Andrews University at home on Tuesday night. The game will tip-off at 5:30pm.Â
