Despite the outcome on the scoreboard, today was an exciting and monumental day for the Kuyper College Volleyball team, as well as Kuyper College itself.Â
The Kuyper Volleyball team competed hard in a tri-match this afternoon at Judson University, which marked the return of Kuyper College Athletics. In the team's first match of the season, they fell to Mount Mercy University by a score of 3-0. In the team's second match, they lost to Judson University, the host school, by a score of 3-0 as well.Â
Jada Munro led the Cougars with 7 kills on the day, while Kelsey Quiggin added 6. Angelita Ledesma led the Cougars with 14 assists between the two matches.Â
Despite the losses, Coach Tori Johnston was pleased with the team's effort and attitudes to open the season. "We worked hard to find a rhythm as a team in the first game, and we found some light of that" Johnston said. Coach added "We fought hard for points all day during long rallies but ultimately could not put the ball away. The coaching staff is proud of these ladies for their efforts and attitudes today."Â
The Cougars are back in action next week, where they travel to Ann Arbor, MI to take on Concordia University on August 23rd (Wednesday) at 6:00pm.
