The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team earned another NCCAA II Midwest Regional win on Wednesday, as the Cougars defeated the Crusaders from Great Lakes Christian College by a final score of 86-65. Kuyper combined stifiling defense with hot shooting in order to secure the victory.Â
Kuyper shot a scorching 50% from the field and 43.5% from behind the three. On the contrary, the Cougars limited the Crusaders to just 41.8% from the field and 36.4% from three. Additionally, the Cougars did a great job handling the defensive pressure from Great Lakes Christian, as they finished the game with just 6 turnovers.Â
Kuyper was led by
Elisha Searcy, who finished with a double-double.
Elisha Searcy ended the game with 20 points (8-13 FGs, 4-7 3PT), 10 assists, and 0 turnovers.
Herman Brown also got hot from behind the three, as Brown finished with 19 points (6-12 FGs, 5-9 3PT) and 4 assists.
Latrell Jennings added 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Danyel Bibbs finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Jeremiah Jolliffi also reached double figures in the scoring column with 10 points.
Austin Stone provided the multiple second-chance opportunities for the Cougars, as he finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive rebounds.Â
Kuyper moves to 13-4 on the season and 11-2 in the NCCAA II. The #10 ranked Cougars travel to take on Andrews University at 7:30pm on Thursday.Â
