Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Defeats Andrews in Rematch

The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team defeated Andrews University on Thursday evening by a score of 81-53. This win was much more comfortable than the last matchup between these two teams, as last time they played on November 7th, the Cougars needed overtime to secure the win over the Cardinals.

Kuyper was very balanced tonight, as all 14 Cougars got minutes today. 13 Cougars got in the scoring column. Additionally, no Cougar logged more than 23 minutes, so the Cougars got great contributions from the entire bench. Kuyper was able to secure a comfortable win behind hot three point shooting and impressive defense. The Cougars limited the Cardinals to 32.8% from the field and 29.4% from three.

Kuyper was led in scoring by Herman Brown, who finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Brown continued his hot shooting from behind the three point line, as he was a perfect 4-4. Elisha Searcy added 11 points and 4 assists. Charrone Gordon and Nic Yorke added 4 points to the Cougars' effort, which was their new season-highs, and Travis Jones got his first points in his Kuyper career with a made three. Jeremiah Jolliffi led the Cougars in rebounding with 8 boards to go along with his 8 points.

Kuyper improves to 14-4 on the season with the win. Kuyper will take on Grace Christian University on Saturday at 7:00pm ET at home. This will be a special game, as it is a Top 10 matchup between two NCCAA Midwest Regional teams, but it also a return of the rivalry between the two Grand Rapids institutions. Coach Gary Bailey led Grace Christian University to 7 National Championships and 13 Regional Championships in his Hall of Fame tenure at Grace Christian University. This will be his first time ever coaching against the Tigers.
