The Kuyper College Women's Basketball defeated Grace Christian University by a score of 79-24. This makes two wins for the Cougars in back to back days. Kuyper and Grace Christian are both in the NCCAA Midwest Region, so this was an important matchup for the Cougars.Â
Kuyper began to run away with the game in the second quarter, as they won the second quarter by a score of 20-2. After getting a comfortable lead, the Cougars never looked back. Kuyper's defense was stifling throughout the game, as they had the Tigers to 15.5% from the field and 5.0% from three.Â
Kuyper was led by
Shonyah Hawkins, who finished with 18 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Jakya Rimpson finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Couper Agema finished with a double-double, as she had 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
Aniya Fisher neared a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Abigail Rivera-Sosa had 10 points as well.
Maria Sobany led the Cougars with an impressive 9 assists.Â
Kuyper moves to 11-6 on the season and 8-2 in the NCCAA II. The Cougars travel to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Carlow University on Monday, January 22nd at 7:00pm.Â
