Kuyper College JV - Gold beat Grace Christian JV on Tuesday night to begin a basketball triple-header at Boonstra Gymnasium on the campus of Kuyper College. The Cougars defeated the Tigers by a score of 78-63. The Cougars were trailing by 11 at the half, but a huge second half led to a Cougars win. Kuyper outscored Grace Christian 49-23 in the second half.
This momentum change in the second half was sparked by freshman A'mari Stephens. Stephens hit 4 consecutive threes on back-to-back-to-back-to-back possessions. The three-point barrage erupted the stands at Boonstra Gymnasium, and Kuyper rode that wave of momentum to a win.Â
Stephens finished with 18 points on 6 made threes.
James Weaver added 22 points and 5 assists.
Corey Pritchett neared a double-double, as he finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Kuyper moves to 2-5 with the win over Grace Christian. They will travel to Nashville, Tennessee for two games this weekend. Kuyper JV - Black and Kuyper JV - Purple will also be traveling to Tennessee. Each team will play two games at Welch College.
