The Kuyper College JV - Purple team opened their season on Monday, November 4th, with a narrow 72-68 loss to Spring Arbor JV. The Cougars were down 19 points at the halftime break, but they were able to storm back to make it a competitive game.
The Cougars ended up falling just short, as they lost by 4 points. Free throws were a major hindrance to the Cougars, as they shot 42.3% from the line (11-26). In a close game, that was difficult to overcome.Â
Terrance Murphy led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points. Freshman
Joey Taylor added 17 points to the Cougars' effort.
Ryan Patterson logged his first career double-double, as he finished the game with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Antwann Woods neared a double-double, as his final line was 7 points and 12 rebounds.
Ashtyn Simerson finished with 13 points for Kuyper.
JV - Purple moves to 0-1 on the year, and they will take on Kuyper JV - Black on November 8th at home. The game will begin at 4:30pm.Â
