The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team lost to Grace Christian University on Thursday night by a score of 83-88. The Cougars and the Tigers played for the Cross Cup trophy, a rivalry trophy dating back to when Kuyper and Grace played every year from 2007-2015. The Cougars beat the Tigers at home back on January 20th, but they were unable to get the win on Thursday night. Coach Gary Bailey coached 17Â seasons at Grace Christian University, where he won 7 National Championships.Â
Similar to the previous matchup, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead. However, the Cougars responded, and were even able to take the lead. The game was back and forth for much of the first half, but the Tigers took a 5 point lead into the halftime break.
Danyel Bibbs was keeping the Cougars within reach, as he had 17 first half points.Â
In the second half, the game was back and forth as well, with multiple lead changes. However, the Tigers were able to get enough stops to secure the win.Â
Kuyper was led by
Danyel Bibbs, who finished with a season-high 31 points. Bibbs added 6 rebounds and 6 steals as well.
Herman Brown finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Latrell Jennings and
Jeremiah Jolliffi added 11 points and 10 points.
Kuyper moves to 19-8 on the year and 15-5 in the NCCAA II. Kuyper has their regular season finale on Saturday, where they will travel to Moody Bible to take on the Archers at 3:00pm ET.Â
