The Kuyper College Women's Basketball team is advancing to the Midwest Regional Tournament Championship game on Saturday after they defeated Grace Christian University in today's semifinal game. The Cougars defeated the Tigers by a score of 59-47. This game was the third match-up between these two schools. Kuyper defeated Grace in the first two match-ups with comfortable leads, but this game was much closer. The tournament feel and atmosphere was on display throughout the game.
Grace Christian and Kuyper were back and forth for much of the game, with Grace having a small lead for most of the first three quarters. However, Kuyper was able to get some much needed stops and baskets down the stretch in order to win the semifinal.Â
Kuyper was led by
Jakya Rimpson, who finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Shonyah Hawkins and
Aniya Fisher each added 11 points.
Couper Agema finished with 9 points on 3-5 shooting from three, and she made a couple huge threes down the stretch.Â
Kuyper advances to 16-9 on the year. Kuyper is set to take on Great Lakes Christian College at 12:00pm tomorrow at Grace Christian University for the Regional Championship. They will be competing for a bid to the NCCAA II National Tournament in Minneapolis, MN.
