The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team won a thriller on Saturday evening by way of a Sam Dillard game-winning three at the buzzer. Video of the shot can be seen here. The Cougars defeated the Buccanneers 81-78, after losing earlier this week to the Buccaneers by 25. 

Kuyper got out to an early lead, and they held the lead for much of the game. Kuyper reached a 19 point lead at one point late in the first half. However, the University of Virgin Islands bounced back and ended up taking a small lead late in the game. Kuyper made plays down the stretch to put them in position with the ball in their hands with 7.7 seconds left in the game, tied up. Dillard got the inbounds pass and weaved through the defense. He rose up for the game-winning three and nailed it, leading to the huge Kuyper win.

Dillard led the way with a career-high 26 points. He also grabbed 7 rebounds. Damion Cochran added 12 points, and Elijah Searcy added 11 points. Richard Major also reached double figures for the Cougars, scoring 10 points. 

Kuyper has returned to Grand Rapids from the Virgin Islands, and the win gives them some momentum heading into a big week of NCCAA rivalry games. The Cougars travel to Lansing, MI on Tuesday to take on Great Lakes Christian College, and then on Friday, they will travel across town to take on Grace Christian University. 

The Cougars are now 8-10 on the year after the win.
