Men's Basketball Drops Road Rivalry Game at Great Lakes

Box Score The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team traveled to Lansing, MI on Tuesday evening for a big time NCCAA matchup with Great Lakes Christian College. The Crusaders defeated the Cougars 96-76 in the rivalry game. Great Lakes Christian and Kuyper are both members of the NCCAA II Midwest Region. The loss moves the Cougars to 2-2 on the year in games against Midwest Regional opponents.

Kuyper and Great Lakes played a very back and forth game for much of the first half. However, a late flurry from three for the Crusaders gave them an 11 point first half lead. In the second half, Kuyper was able to cut the lead down to just 4-5 points, but Great Lakes continued to counter with runs of their own.

Great Lakes made 12 threes, compared to Kuyper's 4 made threes, which was a big difference in the game. Great Lakes was able to limit the Cougars to just 35.4% from the field and 18.2% from three. Kuyper's inability to execute offensively led to countless transition baskets for the Crusaders.

Sam Dillard led the Cougars in scoring, as he finished with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Elijah Searcy added 11 points for Kuyper. Latrell Jennings added 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Richard Major dished out a team-high 6 assists for the Cougars.

Kuyper's record drops to 8-11 on the year with the loss. Kuyper has another big game on Friday, as they will travel across town to take on Grace Christian University in a rivalry rematch. The Tigers defeated the Cougars 83-76 in the Cross Cup game earlier this season.
