The Kuyper College Volleyball team dropped a nail-biter on Tuesday evening at Great Lakes Christian College. The Cougars lost to the Crusaders in five sets in the Midwest Region match-up.Â
Kuyper opened the road match with a resounding 25-19 win in set 1. The Crusaders took the momentum back by winning the second set. The match was incredibly close, as each of the last four sets finished with just a 2 point margin of victory. The Crusaders won the fifth set 16-14.Â
Despite the loss, the Cougars posted a couple more record-breaking performances in the match.
Aliyah Garner broke the school record of 21 kills, which was previously held by Garner herself. Additionally,
Brooke Moore tied the school record for digs in a match, with 25 digs. The record she tied was also held by Moore herself. Lastly,
Rachel Romero finished the day with 8 aces, which tied
Angelita Ledesma's record.Â
Garner led the Cougars with 25 kills and 14 digs.
Brooke Moore led the way with 25 digs.
Rachel Romero had an impressive night as well, as she finished with 19 kills and 12 digs. Additionally, Romero had 8 aces.Â
The Cougars move to 1-11 on the year and 1-1 in the NCCAA II Midwest Region. The Cougars host Maranatha Baptist University at 7:00pm on Friday evening.Â
