The Kuyper College Volleyball program earned a home win on Friday evening, as they defeated Maranatha Baptist University in three sets. The Cougars and the Sabercats are each members of the NCCAA II Midwest Region, so this win moves the Cougars to 2-1 in regional matches. 

Kuyper won the first two sets each by a score of 25-19. They earned the sweep by winning the third set 25-17. Despite the Cougars leading for much of the match, the Sabercats competed and kept sets within reach at all times. The Cougars were able to close out sets in order to earn the win. 

The Cougars were led behind the offense of Aliyah Garner and Rachel Romero. Garner led the Cougars in kills with 20, while Romero added 16 kills. Trina Nelson and Catherine Cone were setting up Kuyper's hitters all evening, as Cone led the way with 17 assists, and Nelson added 14 assists. Brooke Moore anchored Kuyper's defense with 24 digs on the night. Brynne Johnson, Kristi Miesen, and Ariel Talsma were all impactful for the Cougars. 

Kuyper improves to 2-11 on the season with the win. This marks their first home win of the year for the Cougars. Kuyper is 2-1 in NCCAA II matches.

The Cougars are right back to it on Saturday, as they will travel across town to take on Moody Bible Institute at 3:00pm, and then they will take on Grace Christian University at 5:00pm.
