The Kuyper College Volleyball program traveled across town Saturday afternoon to the campus of Grace Christian University. The Cougars competed in a tri-match with Moody Bible Institute and Grace Christian University.Â
The Cougars took on the Archers of Moody Bible Institute for their first match. The Cougars defeated the Archers back on September 12th. The Archers got the best of the Cougars in the rematch on Saturday, as Moody Bible won in four sets.Â
The Archers won the first two sets in narrow fashion, as the scores were 25-22 and 25-23. Kuyper was able to stay alive in the match by winning the third set 25-20. Ultimately, the Archers closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.Â
Aliyah Garner led the Cougars with 23 kills and 13 digs on the day.
Rachel Romero added 11 kills and 15 digs.
Brooke Moore broke her own school record that she currently held for most digs in a match, as she finished the match with 26 digs.
Catherine Cone led the Cougars with 22 assists.Â
In the second match, the Cougars took on rival Grace Christian University, where the Tigers defeated the Cougars in three sets. The Tigers won the sets 25-14, 25-22, 25-18.
Rachel Romero led the Cougars with 10 kills.
Aliyah Garner added 7 kills and 10 digs.
Trina Nelson led Kuyper with 11 assists.Â
The Cougars drop to 2-13 on the season after the weekend, and 2-3 in the NCCAA II Midwest Region. The Cougars host Great Lakes Christian College on Tuesday at 7:00pm.Â
