The Kuyper College Men's Basketball team traveled south on the East Beltline on Friday evening to take on Calvin University. The Cougars lost to the Knights by a score of 79-56. Calvin came into the game ranked top ten in the country for NCAA III.Â
Calvin jumped out to an early lead, but Kuyper responded with a run of their own. Calvin led for the entire game, and they went into the halftime break up 17. The Cougars were outscored 37-31 in the second half, leading to the 23 point loss for Kuyper.Â
Neither team shot the ball at a very efficient level throughout the game. Kuyper shot just 34.4% from the field, and they held Calvin to 38.2% on the night. Kuyper's zone led to a lot of three-point attempts for the Knights, but they were unable to knock them down at a high clip, as they shot 3/25 from three (12%). However, Calvin dominated the boards, winning the rebounding battle 56-37. Calvin grabbed 22 offensive boards, leading to 22 second chance points.
Kuyper was led by junior
Latrell Jennings, who scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds.
Nic Yorke added 8 points to the Cougars' effort.

Kuyper dropped to 5-8 on the year with the loss. The Cougars take on Siena Heights University on Monday, December 15th, for a 5:00pm tip-off.
