Kuyper JV - Purple lost in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon, as Grace Christian JV defeated the Cougars by a score of 92-90. The game was high-scoring, with both teams going on mutiple big runs throughout the game.
Grace Christian led for nearly the entire first half, and they went into the halftime break up 55-42 over Kuyper. However, Kuyper responded well in the second half, as they led late in the second half. Kuyper ended up trailing by 2 with less than 20 seconds to. Head Coach
Jmike Heard drew up a tremendous play, leading to
Damon Jackson laying the ball in to tie the game. Grace Christian then quickly inbounded the ball and made a floater off the glass to win the game.Â
Kuyper lost in heartbreaking fashion in what would have been three wins in a row for the Cougars.Â
Terrance Murphy led Kuyper with an impressive showing, including 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Ryan Patterson had a tremendous game for Kuyper as well, as he logged the first ever 20 point-20 rebound performance in Kuyper JV history. Patterson finished with 2- points and 22 rebounds.
Matt Ritter added 15 points and 7 rebounds, while
Damon Jackson finished with 13 points.Â
Kuyper JV - Purple drops to 3-11 on the year with the loss. They will return to action in the new year, when students return for second semester.Â
