The Kuyper College Men's Basketball opened up a four game road-trip with a stop in Berrien Springs to take on Andrews University. The Cougars and Cardinals typically play twice a year, and this year was no different. The Cougars won the first match up between these two teams, as Kuyper defeated Andrews 72-67 back in early December.Â
The result was different in this one for Kuyper. Kuyper came out of the gates ready to go, as they built an early double-digit lead. Andrews quickly responded, and the first half ended tied up at 33. However, the second half was where the entire game changed. Andrews built up a lead quickly in the second half, and they never looked back. Andrews went on to win in comfortable fashion, 79-62.Â
Andrews' offense was humming on a different level than the Cougars all game. Andrews shot an astounding 59.3% from the field in the second half, and they made 17 threes on the game. Contrastly, Kuyper shot just 31.5% from the field and 31% from three.Â
Kuyper was able to win the rebounding and turnover battle, but the margins were not big enough to overcome the shooting discrepancy.Â
Elijah Searcy led Kuyper with 16 points and 6 rebounds. He made 4 threes on 7 attempts. Freshman
Sincere Hatch poured in a career-high 11 points, and he was one rebound away from his first career double-double.
Austin Stone also finished with 11 points, while grabbing 7 rebounds.
Jashaun Boggerty added 10 points and 5 rebounds for Kuyper.
The Cougars dropped to 10-13 on the season with the loss.
