Allen Durham Named MBB Head Coach After '25-'26 Season

Kuyper College is excited to announce the hiring of Allen Durham as the Men's Basketball Head Coach, beginning after the 2025-2026 season. Kuyper's Men's Basketball program is currently led by Head Coach Gary Bailey, who is set to retire at the end of June. Bailey has served as Kuyper's Head Coach the past three seasons and will finish this current season in the Head Coach role. Durham has joined the staff as an Assistant Coach for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season. Durham is from Wyoming, MI, and he attended high school at Wyoming Park HS.

Durham is no stranger to Kuyper and the NCCAA, as he played three seasons of college basketball for Grace Christian University, then Grace Bible College, from 2008-2011. Durham played under the leadership of current Kuyper Head Coach, Gary Bailey. Durham led Grace Christian to three consecutive NCCAA II National Championships. During their unprecedented championship run, Durham led the way. He was a 3x NCCAA II First Team All-American, 3x NCCAA II National Tournament MVP, and the 2011 Pete Maravich Memorial Award recipient. Durham is Grace Christian's all-time leader in points (2,467), rebounds (1,314), and blocked shots (151).

At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Durham set his sights on the professional basketball scene. Durham had an illustrious professional career to go along with his decorated collegiate career. Durham began his professional playing career in 2011, and he just recently wrapped up his career in early 2025. During his career, Durham played in the NBA Developmental League (now NBA G-League), as well as stops overseas in Finland, Romania, France, Israel, the Phillipines, and Japan. Durham's career was filled with monster stat-lines, championship appearances, and multiple individual awards. He was named Best Import for the PBA in the Phillipines multiple times in his career. In the G-League, Durham averaged 8.8ppg and 7.4rpg.

Now that his professional playing career has come to an end, Durham is ready for the next step in his basketball career: Head Coach of the Kuyper College Cougars. Durham was an Assistant Coach at Davenport University during the 2024-2025 season before returning to his playing career. He has since joined the Kuyper staff as an Assistant Coach, and he will take over for Head Coach Gary Bailey at the end of the season as the program's new Head Coach.

Additionally, Durham was the owner of the Grand Rapids Danger, a former semi-professional basketball organization in west Michigan.

Durham will be a tremendous addition to the campus of Kuyper College. His impressive playing career will be instrumental in his ability to coach and develop student-athletes at Kuyper.

"We are excited to name Allen Durham as the Men's Basketball Head Coach here at Kuyper, at the conclusion of this season. Allen is very well-known in the basketball world for his impressive collegiate and professional playing career. Student-athletes will be blessed with the opportunity to learn from a coach of Allen's expertise and basketball knowledge," said Adam Kregel, Kuyper's Assistant Athletic Director.

Durham and Bailey have an excellent relationship, which will lead to a seamless transition for the Kuyper Men's Basketball program.
