Women's Volleyball Adds Anna Johnson

The Kuyper College Volleyball program has signed Anna Johnson, a setter out of Niles, Michigan. Johnson is transferring to Kuyper from Southwestern Michigan College, a JUCO in Dowagiac, Michigan. Johnson had a stellar career at Southwestern Michigan. Prior to attending Southwestern Michigan, Johnson graduated from Niles High School. Anna is the daughter of Jenni and Kevin Johnson.

Anna Johnson comes to Kuyper with an impressive list of accomplishments as a student-athlete. At Niles High School, Johnson played three seasons of Varsity. During her time at Niles, they won three consecutive Conference Championships. They also won a District Championship, as well as a Regional Championship in 2021. In addition to all of the team success that Johnson was a part of, she eclipsed 1,000 career assists during her senior season.

After Johnson's prolific career at Niles High School, she attended Southwestern Michigan College, where she played two seasons. Over the course of the two seasons, Johnson led the team to back-to-back winning seasons, and a 45-29 record over the two years. Anna played in every match for Southwestern Michigan the last two years. She eclipsed 1,000 career assists at the college level as well, as she finished her career at Southwestern Michigan with 1,328 assists. She led the team in assists in both seasons. Additionally, Johnson logged 626 digs in her two-year career. Johnson was named MCCAA All-Western Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore.

In addition to her success on the court, Johnson thrives in the classroom as well. Anna finished with a 4.1795 GPA at Niles High School, good for 6th in her graduating class of 164 students. She was also a member of the National Honors Society at Niles. In college, her academic success continued, as she was named to the President's List (4.0 GPA) once, and the Dean's List (3.5 GPA) three times.

Outside of school volleyball, Johnson played club volleyball for Dunes Volleybal Club.

Johnson is excited about the opportunity to continue her collegiate playing career at Kuyper. Johnson said, "I am most excited to join the Kuyper College Volleyball program because of the opportunity to be a part of a team that values hard work, discipline, and teamwork. I am eager to contribute my skills and experience from my previous seasons, and I'm especially looking forward to growing both as an individual and player. The chance to compete at a higher level while fostering a strong sense of community with teammates and coaches really excites me."

Congratulations to Anna Johnson on signing to become a Kuyper Cougar!
