The Kuyper College JV Basketball program has signed
Cam Owusu, a 5'10 guard from Grand Rapids, MI. Owusu played his HS Basketball at Wellspring Preparatory High School in Grand Rapids. Cam is the son of Abed and Latrisha Owusu.
Owusu had a great career at Wellspring Prep, where he did it a bit of everything on the floor. As a senior, Cam averaged 16.7 points per game, while grabbing 7.2 rebounds per game. Owusu led the Wolves in points, rebounds, assists, and steals as a senior. Cam can score from at the rim, as well as from the perimeter. He holds Wellspring's record for most made threes in a season, as he made 66 threes as a senior. The previous record was 53 threes. He did this while shooting at an extremely efficient rate, as he shot 45.2% from three in conference.
Owusu played three years of Varsity basketball for the Wolves. He was a starter for two of his three seasons with the Varsity team. Additionally, he was named Team Captain as a senior, showing his leadership skills. Owusu logged a monster game vs. Grand River Prep, where he finished with 33 points, and 12 rebounds, on an astounding 12/16 from the field. This impressive showing put him in the running for Player of the Week in Grand Rapids that week.
Owusu will be on Kuyper College's JV - Purple team, led by Head Coach
Jmike Heard. The Cougars begin practice in late September.
