Men's Basketball Season Preview

The Kuyper College Men's Basketball program is back in action tomorrow (Tuesday) night, as they kick off their 2025-2026 season on the road at Free Lutheran Bible College. This game is part of a three game road trip in Minnesota for the Cougars. The Cougars will take on Oak Hills Christian College and Trinity Bible College on Friday and Saturday to close out the road trip.

Kuyper's 2025-2026 campaign consists of 31 regular season games, 5 of which will be exhibition games. The Cougars will face off against teams from multiple different divisoins. Kuyper will take on 4 NCAA Division II schools and 2 NCAA Division III schools. Additionally, the Cougars will play 7 NAIA opponents over the course of the season.

Kuyper will play 9 home games at Boonstra Gymnasium this season. Their road games will include road trips to Minnesota, Iowa, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and more. The NCCAA II Midwest Regional Tournament will take place in late February in Dubuque, Iowa, where Emmaus University will be the host institution. Lastly, on the schedule, Kuyper will play rival Grace Christian University twice on the year, with November 12th being the match-up for the Cross Cup Trophy. See Kuyper's full schedule here.

Kuyper Head Coach worked hard to set his roster for his third season as the Head Coach of the Cougars. The Kuyper roster consists of 18 players: 9 returners and 9 newcomers. Of the 9 newcomers, Kuyper has 3 true freshman and 6 players who come with collegiate basketball experience. When it comes to the 9 returners, that group brings great experience to the Kuyper roster. 7 of the 9 returners have started games over the course of their career. The Cougars return Sam Dillard, who was Kuyper's leading scorer last season and was named Second Team All-Region, as well as Regional Freshman of the Year. Additionally, the Cougars plan to get Elisha Searcy back on the floor, after missing much of last season with a knee injury. Searcy was named Second Team All-Region in 2023-2024, as a freshman. See Kuyper's entire roster here.

In addition to the new roster, Kuyper's program will have a few new faces on the coaching staff. Andrew Howard and Brad Rosenzweig will be the Assistant Coaches for the program. Rosenzweig played for Coach Bailey at Grace Christian University, where they won an NCCAA II National Championship together. Howard has experience coaching at the collegiate level, as he was on staff with the Kuyper WBB program last season. Additionally, former Kuyper player, Kyle Jarosch, will serve as a Student Assistant Coach. Christian Trewhella, Coach Bailey's grandson, will handle team manager duties for the Cougars.
