Austin Stone, junior forward for Kuyper Men's Basketball, has been named NCCAA II Student-Athlete of the Week. NCCAA II Student-Athlete of the Week is a national award that only one student-athlete for each sport earns in a given week. Stone has been having a tremendous season for the Cougars, and his tremendous play continued this past week.
The Cougars played two games on the road, first at Welch College, and second at Alice Lloyd College. The Cougars earned a comeback win over Welch, and then lost the following day at Alice Lloyd. Stone filled the stat sheet all week, with his best individual performance coming against Alice Lloyd, where he finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. He also added a block to his effort. This was Stone's 6th double-double of the season.
Austin currently leads the Cougars in scoring, as he averages 11 points per game. He also graabes a team high 6.9 rebounds per game. Stone is Kuyper's defensive anchor, who has shown great versatility all season on that end of the floor. He leads Kuyper with 19 blocks on the year.
